Meal Planning Wednesday

Grilled hamburgers, chicken legs, and sausaget for the 4th of July
My meal plan starts on Wednesday because I plan a week at a time, and the ads for my local grocery stores are published on Tuesday with the new week’s sales starting on Wednesday. Use what day works best for you.

We celebrated Independence Day here in the USA last week. As I mentioned last week, I knew my meal plan might change slightly because I forgot to account for it when I created the menu. However, it ended up changing a little more than anticipated because we bought a grill.

I love grilling, and we’ve been without one for a few years. The other day while at Walmart, I saw a small one for $96. It was smaller than what I wanted, but it was good for now. My mom and I went back to get it on Thursday so I could grill hamburgers for the holiday, but then, while we were looking around “just in case”, we stumbled upon a $174 grill marked down by $43.50 just because the box was smashed. The extra $30ish was worth getting something a bit bigger!

I ended up grilling enough meat to last several days, so I carried a lot of the meal plan from last week over to this week. And I’ll probably convert a lot of those to grilling when possible. And future grocery shopping will be done while keeping grilling in mind.

One other change was dessert. The kid talked me into making a cake instead of the banana bread, AND we made homemade strawberry ice cream for the holiday, so that was our dessert last week.
